Cross Border Business - Visa Worldwide

Amer is a senior marketing & general management executive with over 25 years of experience in the payments & FMCG industry. He is currently based in Singapore with Visa Inc. & is responsible for providing support to grow the cross border business for the South East Asia & Australasia markets. This includes working with banks in the markets to grow their cross border business by analyzing, identifying & jointly implementing incremental business opportunities for both the banks & Visa.

Prior to this, Amer opened and established the Visa International office in Pakistan in 2006. As Country Manager, in six years he increased the number of Visa issuing banks from 6 to 22 and grew the card base from less than 1 million to over 10 million. He developed a young & dynamic team which worked closely with the client banks to introduce new card programs, augment overall card usage and by building & strengthening the Visa brand. Some of his work included the launch of Visa Watan cards for the flood affectees in partnership with Bank Alfalah, HBL & UBL, Pakistan Remittance Initiative (PRI) to leverage Visa products which can facilitate the flow of remittances.

Before joining Visa he was with Coca-Cola for six years, where in addition to re- establishing the Coca-Cola brand, growing market share he helped establish a bottling plant in Afghanistan. Amer’s interest in the field of sundry marketing of financial services takes lead from his first job at American Express where, during his eight years tenure, he held various positions in Sales & Marketing of Travelers’ Cheques, Cards & Travel Services.
